RESEARCH PAPERS

Information and Requirement

Writing a thesis is an honor and the culmination of the Bible College academic programs. As such, it should demonstrate the students’ command of sound scholarship, solid research, critical thinking, and exemplary writing abilities. To a professional career in teaching, ministry, administration, or writing, it is critical they master the necessary skills to clearly articulate academic, biblical, and theological truth.

Content:
A subject of your choice that relates in some way to your major.
–  Project/Thesis subject must be approved by STWBC.
–  Choose from any Bible related subject such as a character, doctrine, teaching, passage, book, Christian living, etc.,
Your subject should not be too broad. For example, A Christian Education major might write on a subject such as “Paul’s Teaching Methods.
A Bible major should not write on “All About the Bible” But he may write on “Steps of Christian Growth as Shown in the Life of the Apostle Peter” or “A Study of the Book of Ephesians” or “What Motivated the Apostle Paul.”.
“The Judgment Seat of Christ” (What is it; when, where and why?).

Servant Leadership as the Biblical Model * The Healthy Pastor: A Holistic Approach to Pastoral Training. * The Book of Jonah: Revealing the Attributes of God.

Size and reference requirements:

1. All work must be typed, double-spaced, on one side only of letter size paper (8 1/2” by 11”). Your margins should be about one inch all the way around.

2. Submit an outline (Table of Contents) to your supervisor in case we have suggestions concerning the direction you intend to take. Email: Project@stwbc.org

3. Contact your supervisor if you need further help in selecting a topic

– Font size and placement instructions are given on Title Page guidelines for the Title Page. (Page formatting- Check Portal Online Resource)
– For all other pages use Times New Roman size 12 font for text and the same font and size for CHAPTER HEADINGS.
CHAPTER HEADINGS are in capital letters, centered, and in bold type.
BODY OF THESIS text is to be in Times New Roman size 12 font using Full Justify.

TERM PAPER: 25 – 30 Pages

BACHELOR PROJECT. – 6 Credits
15,000 words minimum utilizing at least 15 reference works.
You may go more than 15,000 words but you cannot go less than 15,000 words.
Plan for about 7-12 chapters (of 7-12 pages each) in order to reach your minimum number of 90 – 120 pages.
Upon completion and acceptance by STWBC, Project must be presented in hardbound format and also in electronic format to Email: project@stwbc.org

MASTER THESIS  – 12 Credits
1.25,000 words minimum utilizing at least 20 reference works.
2. Plan for about 8-12 chapters (of 8-12 pages each) in order to reach your minimum number of 150 – 200 pages.
3. You will have to be prepared to defend your Master’s thesis upon request by the review committee.
4. You may go more than 25,000 words but you cannot go less than 25,000 words.
5. Master’s thesis must be of publishing quality. Decisions of the college will be binding concerning whether or not the thesis is of ” publishing quality.”
6. Upon completion and acceptance by STWBC, thesis must be presented in hardbound format and also in electronic format to Email: project@stwbc.org
7. Thesis must be a significant addition to the body of studies in Theology, the Bible, or Christian Living.

DOCTORAL DISSERTATION  – 18 Credits
1. 50,000 words minimum utilizing at least 25 reference works.
2. Plan for about 10-15 chapters (of 10-15 pages each) in order to reach your minimum number of 250 – 300 pages.
3. You may go more than 50,000 words but you cannot go less than 50,000 words.
4. You will have to be prepared to defend your Doctoral Dissertation upon request by the review committee and complete any rewrites upon notification.
5. Doctoral thesis must be of publishing quality. Decisions of the college will be binding concerning whether or not the thesis is of “publishing quality”.
6. Doctoral thesis must be presented in electronic format for review purposes.
6. Upon completion and acceptance by STWBC, thesis must be presented in hardbound format and also in electronic format to Email: project@stwbc.org
7. Dissertation must be a significant addition to the body of studies in Theology, the Bible, or Christian Living.

SEMINAR PAPER

Seminar in Theological Research has two major components: gaining research skills and improving writing skills. To complete this course successfully, the students will focus their research primarily on works by academically strong authors/sources (those with sound biblical/theological educations and/or are recognized experts in the areas on which they write/teach), on average, the student should plan a time commitment of ten to twelve hours per week to complete the course.

SEMINAR PAPER: 25-30 pages.

The following topics as seminar papers:
1) The Use of Old Testament in the Fourth Gospel; 2) The Similarities and Differences between Synoptics and John’s Gospel. 3) Women in John
4) The Nature and Function of Signs in John.

6. Upon completion and acceptance by STWBC, Seminar Paper must be presented in Spiral Biding format and also in electronic format to Email:
